Professional Information

Mary Doyle Burke is an Irish visual artist whose practice weaves ritual, ecology, and material storytelling into immersive, sensory installations. Based in Kilkenny, she works with beeswax, moss, seeds, bioplastics, reclaimed wood, and other living or once‑living materials, creating layered works that honour cycles of return, renewal, and ancestral connection. Her process is grounded in quiet observation and gathering, often at the edges of wetlands, where she engages in ritual acts that inform the textures, forms, and poetics of her studio work. Alongside her artistic practice, Doyle Burke is the founding director of An Chéad Tine Art Gallery, where she leads programming, curation, and artist development. Her leadership centres equity, accessibility, & sustainable organisational growth
